Poggio Terra Barbera Monferrato

POGGIO TERRA BARBERA 2023 is produced from organically farmed vineyards in Monferrato, the historic heartland of Barbera in Piemonte. The 11-hectare estate sits at approximately 300 metres (1,000 ft) elevation with southeast-facing exposures and soils rich in marine fossils, limestone, silt, sand and clay, reflecting the unique biodiversity and terroir of the region. The grapes were naturally fermented using a pied de cuve of native yeasts and crafted with minimal intervention, no additives and minimal sulfites. The wine was aged with 30% in traditional neutral botti oak barrels and 70% in concrete, preserving both purity of fruit and subtle complexity. It shows bright and expressive aromas of raspberry, dried strawberry and crunchy black pepper with delicate herbal nuances. On the palate it is medium-bodied and vibrant, with juicy fruit, lifted acidity, silky integrated tannins and a fresh, mineral-driven finish. Best enjoyed slightly chilled.
